Pahrump, Nevada, located 50 miles west of Las Vegas, has emerged as the most popular retirement destination in 2024, according to Zillow's year-end report. The desert town surpassed last year's top retirement spot, Pinehurst, North Carolina.

Ted Binion famously buried rare silver coins and casino chips in a 12-foot deep vault in Pahrump, leading to a controversial murder case in 1998 involving his girlfriend Sandy Murphy and Richard Tabish.

Pahrump has experienced significant development since the 1960s, when it first received telephone service and paved roads. The town opened its first high school in 1974 and has continued to grow alongside Las Vegas.
