Korean Actress Han So-hee's Mother Gets Suspended Sentence in Illegal Gambling Case
The mother of South Korean actress Han So-hee received a suspended sentence for operating illegal gambling operations in Korea. The 55-year-old defendant managed seven illegal gambling sites, including baccarat operations, across Wonju, Ulsan, and Gyeongju regions between January 2022 and August 2023.

The Chuncheon District Court handed down a one-year prison sentence with a two-year suspension and 120 hours of community service. Prosecutors, who initially sought an 18-month prison term, have appealed the ruling, describing it as "unduly lenient."
Despite a previous fine of 5 million won (US$3,800) in 2023 for similar violations, the defendant continued operating the gambling sites until her arrest in September. While the exact profits weren't disclosed, Judge Kim Do-hyung noted that the operation's structure suggested substantial earnings.
Han So-hee, the defendant's 31-year-old daughter and prominent Korean TV star known for roles in "The World of the Married" and "Gyeongseong Creature," was not involved in the operations. Her spokesperson clarified that the case was "entirely unrelated to the actress and stems from her mother's personal actions."
