Iconic Mirage Las Vegas Atrium Demolished in Hard Rock Transformation
The iconic Mirage Las Vegas atrium is being removed as part of the property's transformation into Hard Rock Las Vegas, marking the end of an era for the Strip landmark.
The demolition comes despite initial renderings from the Seminole Tribe of Florida showing the atrium preserved. The tribe purchased the Mirage for $1.1 billion in December 2022 and plans a $4-5 billion renovation.

The atrium, designed by Steve Wynn, featured a rainforest atmosphere with:
- A cascading waterfall
- Towering palm trees
- 100 varieties of exotic plants and flowers
- 100-foot high domed skylight

Only the casino's core structure, towers, and villas will remain after the renovation. While many fans expressed disappointment over the atrium's removal on social media, the decision aligns with Hard Rock's strategy to establish its own distinct identity rather than preserve reminders of the former Mirage.

The new Hard Rock Las Vegas is scheduled to open in spring 2027, becoming the second Hard Rock property in the city, following the first location which became Virgin Hotels Las Vegas in 2021.
