UFC Fighter Chokes Out Friend in Bizarre $5,000 Poker Debt Settlement
A former UFC middleweight champion offered an unusual solution to settle a $5,000 poker debt - getting choked unconscious instead of paying up.
Chris Weidman shared an Instagram video showing him applying a chokehold to an unnamed friend who had lost at poker the previous night. The friend was given two options: pay the $5,000 debt or get choked until passing out.

In the video, Weidman executes the chokehold while someone off-camera monitors the friend's consciousness. After briefly convulsing upon regaining consciousness, the friend smiled, and the group laughed about the unusual debt settlement.
The incident comes shortly after Weidman's recent loss by second-round TKO to Eryk Anders at UFC 310 in Las Vegas. Following that fight, UFC CEO Dana White suggested that Weidman, who holds a 16-8 record, should consider retirement along with fellow fighters Anthony Smith and Clay Guida.
Weidman, who previously promoted the World Series of Poker free-to-play app in 2022, has not yet commented on either his recent loss or the retirement suggestion. The 40-year-old fighter's unusual debt collection method sparked mixed reactions on social media, with some commenters questioning his recent performance in the octagon rather than his poker debt collection techniques.
