Nevada Casinos Break All-Time Slot Revenue Record Despite Overall October Decline
Nevada casinos achieved a record-breaking slot machine revenue in October, though overall gaming revenue declined compared to the previous year. Slot machines at the state's 315 licensed facilities generated $932.3 million, marking a 4.2% increase from October 2023.
Despite this milestone, total gaming revenue decreased by 2% to $1.286 billion, marking the 44th consecutive month exceeding $1 billion. The decline was primarily due to:
- Table games and sports betting revenue dropping 16%
- Baccarat revenue declining 23% to $69.1 million
- Sportsbook revenue falling 58% to $28.9 million
- Las Vegas Strip revenue decreasing 3% to $692 million

Some bright spots in table games included:
- Blackjack revenue up 2% to $116.3 million
- Craps revenue increasing 3% to $41.5 million
Visitor statistics also showed some softening:
- Overall visitation down 1.8% to 3.56 million people
- Convention attendance decreased 13% to 559,000
- Airport traffic declined 3.5% to 5.3 million passengers
Through October 2024, Nevada's total gaming revenue reached $12.82 billion. To achieve a fourth consecutive year of record revenue, the state needs to generate $2.7 billion in November and December combined.
This slowdown isn't unique to Nevada, as other major gaming states including New Jersey and Pennsylvania have also experienced decreased brick-and-mortar gaming revenue in 2024.
