Rubi C. Verduzco, 29, from Bethany, Oklahoma, faces child neglect charges after three unidentified men left her baby in a stroller near the casino's bell desk. A casino employee discovered the unattended infant and immediately alerted Seminole Police.
When Verduzco returned approximately 45 minutes later, officers noted she appeared intoxicated, displaying bloodshot eyes, slurred speech, and the smell of alcohol. She was unable to provide basic information about the child, including its birthdate.
Police reports indicate Verduzco couldn't explain who had custody of the baby or for how long. Officers contacted a man claiming to be the child's father, who surprisingly suggested the infant be placed in state custody and recommended Verduzco's arrest.
The Florida Department of Children and Families has taken custody of the infant. Verduzco was booked into Broward County's Main Jail with bail set at $2,500 and was later released. Local prosecutors are now handling the case.
