The Isle of Man's Gambling Supervision Commission (GSC) revoked the license, stating the company was "no longer satisfied [the company] was under the control of a person of integrity."
Seow Gim Shen, a Malaysian national and Metagrow director, received a 14-week prison sentence in October for attempting to purchase stolen personal information of 9,369 individuals from an online gambling website.
The data was allegedly stolen by Sun Jiao, a member of a Chinese-run cybercrime syndicate in Singapore. Seow met Sun at a Cambodian casino in 2019 through a Chinese national who suggested Sun could provide valuable gambling industry databases.
Seow later connected Sun with Kong Chien Hoi, both major shareholders in Rexit, a Malaysian financial software solutions company. The group created a chat called "Malaysian Data" to negotiate the sale of stolen information. Initial analysis showed 32% of the sample data (about 2,000 names) were contactable via SMS. Sun claimed access to data of over one million Thai nationals.
The scheme unraveled following Sun's arrest, which led investigators to Seow and Kong. Metagrow Solutions, licensed by GSC in March 2023 and incorporated in August 2022, is now under further investigation by the Commission, with additional details pending the investigation's conclusion.
