Hard Rock Bristol Plans Expansion Following Successful Virginia Casino Launch
Hard Rock Bristol is already considering expansion just weeks after its $515 million integrated resort opened on November 14, 2024. The casino's ownership group recently purchased 13 acres of adjacent land for $7 million, signaling potential future development plans.
The property's local partners, Jim McGlothlin of United and Clyde Stacey of Par Ventures, acquired the vacant land at Catherine Street and Gate City Highway. While currently used for employee parking, the site is strategically positioned for future growth.

Potential expansion could include wellness offerings like a full-service Rock Spa & Salon, similar to other Hard Rock properties. The resort's spokesperson, Andy Poach, confirmed the land acquisition is intended to accommodate future growth demands.
The casino opened with a Blake Shelton concert and has already lined up notable performances, including Bush, Air Supply, Boys II Men, and Kevin James. Hard Rock Live will also host conventions, trade shows, and special events.
The property stands where the Bristol Mall operated for nearly 50 years. Before moving to its permanent location, Hard Rock operated a temporary casino in the mall's former Belk department store from July 2022 until November 2024.
