Resorts World Las Vegas has established its first board of directors, with former MGM Resorts International CEO Jim Murren appointed as chairman. The property also named Alex Dixon, a 20-year gaming industry veteran, as its new chief executive officer.

The appointments come at a crucial time for the Strip property, which experienced challenging third-quarter results due to an unusually hot summer and economic uncertainty. The venue reported its worst performance in two years, with declining EBITDA and revenue.

Murren brings extensive gaming industry experience, having previously led MGM Resorts and served as chairman of Nevada's COVID-19 response task force. He currently holds leadership positions with Cirque du Soleil, Playstudios, and the Ritz-Carlton Yacht Collection.

"Resorts World Las Vegas has transformed the Vegas Strip with its unceasing focus on providing the ultimate guest experience," Murren stated, expressing his commitment to driving growth and innovation at the property.

Alex Dixon, a Las Vegas native, will assume his CEO role on January 16, 2024. His impressive background includes executive positions at Q Casino & Resort, Caesars Entertainment, and MGM, along with experience at Goldman Sachs.

These leadership changes follow recent challenges, including a money laundering investigation where the Nevada Gaming Control Board is seeking financial penalties from the property. However, with parent company Genting Berhad's strong financial backing and the new leadership team's extensive experience, Resorts World Las Vegas aims to strengthen its position and profitability in 2025.

Dixon expressed optimism about the property's future, stating, "We have an incredible team of talented and committed employees throughout the organization and are confident we can achieve amazing things together."
