The Cowlitz County Coroner's Office confirmed Shinaver's remains were found in his truck, which was discovered submerged in water in Woodland, Washington on December 7. The St. Helens, Oregon resident's identity was verified through dental records.
The autopsy revealed Shinaver died from accidental drowning. A tow truck driver discovered the vehicle while searching for a different car in the area off Dike Road in Woodland, approximately 30 miles north of Portland.
Shinaver was last seen on April 30, 2021, at ilani Casino Resort in Ridgefield, Washington, about six miles from where his black 1993 Ford Ranger was recovered. At the time of his disappearance, he was wearing a yellow long-sleeve work shirt, Carhartt jeans, and boots.
Authorities have not revealed the circumstances that led to Shinaver's truck entering the water. He appears to have been alone at the time of the incident, as no other bodies were found in the vehicle.
The St. Helens Police Department had been investigating the missing person case since 2021. Shinaver was described as approximately six feet tall, weighing 155 pounds, with brown hair and blue eyes.
