Bet365 CEO Denise Coates Takes £150 Million Pay Cut Despite Record Profits
Bet365 CEO Denise Coates reduced her annual compensation to £150 million (US$188 million) in the latest financial year, marking a significant decrease from previous earnings despite the company's improved performance.
The online betting giant reported increased revenues of £3.7 billion (US$4.7 billion), up from £3.4 billion, with pretax profits reaching £596.3 million (US$748 million). This marks a substantial recovery from the previous year's £72.6 million loss, which was primarily due to US expansion costs.

Coates' compensation history includes a record-breaking £421 million (US$528 million) in 2020, when she became the highest-paid executive in British corporate history, earning approximately £237,348 per hour based on a 38-hour work week.
Over the past 15 years, Coates has earned approximately £2.5 billion (US$3.1 billion) from Bet365. Despite criticism over her compensation, she maintains Bet365's headquarters in the UK, making the company a significant contributor to British tax revenue and the largest employer in Stoke-on-Trent.
The company continues its charitable efforts through the Denise Coates Foundation, which received £120 million (US$150 million) in donations. The foundation supports various causes including health, welfare, education, and disaster recovery.
Coates founded Bet365 with her brother John in Stoke nearly two decades ago, expanding from their father's betting shop chain to create one of the world's largest online gambling companies. The Coates family ranks 20th on The Times of London's wealthiest Brits list, with a combined net worth of £7.5 billion (US$9.4 billion).
